CLECKHEATON made no mistake as they secured an eight-wicket success over Division One basement club Brighouse.
Iain Wardlaw trapped opener Geoff Stewart lbw for one with nine on the board aloowing Chris Maloney to join Daniel Dunkerley and the pair put on 59. Dunkerley was the first of Tom Pringle's three wickets, having made just eight. Maloney went on to ma
ke 74.
Wardlaw was the pick of the bowlers, taking 5-30 in his spell of 8.5 overs. Tom Pringle contributed 3-49 and Mohammed Zaman kept up his strike rate with 2-14 as Brighouse captitulated to 128 in 32.5 overs.
Mally Nicholson led Cleckheaton from the front, making 52 not out off 69 balls, he hit one six and seven fours.
There was good support from Zaman, who was unbeaten on 40, while Ian Nicholson chipped in with 21 as Cleckheaton reached 130-2 in 21.4 overs.
Cleckheaton seconds earned a valuable 190-run victory over Pudsey Congs in a game which focussed on the Moorenders' young talent.
Rhys Jowitt made 76 including two sixes and eight fours.
Marcus Walmsley notched up a mighty 103, hitting two sixes and a dozen boundaries as the pair put on 181 for the opening wicket. Cleckheaton set a target of 259-7 while Pudsey Congs were bowled out for just 69 with Edward Walmsley producing a fine haul of 4-15.
