EAST Bierley progressed to the semi-finals of the Priestley Cup with a terrific 39-run success over Woodlands on Sunday.
Bierley, who last won the competition in 2000 when they became the first side to win the trophy three times in successive seasons, posted an impressive 270-6.
They were well led by Gavin Hamilton, who hit eight fours on his way to a top score of 60, while support came from Steve Simpson (45no), Lee Goddard (39), Kez Ahmed (32) and Andrew Rennison (28).
Pieter Swanepoel, Richard Spittlehouse and Chris Brice picked up two wickets apiece for Woodlands, who have appeared in five of the last six cup finals.
Woodlands fell behind the run rate and although Tim Orrell impressed with 59, including 11 fours, while support came from Umar Salim (41) and Scott Richardson (40), they were dismissed for 231 as left arm spinner Luke Jarvis (4-25) and Mohammad Azhar-Ullah (3-42) did most of the damage.
Bierley have been paired at home to Yeadon, who had a comfortable seven-wicket win over struggling second division outfit Morley, in the last four on Sunday July 12 (1pm).
Farsley produced a superb fightback to dump holders Pudsey Congs out of the competition.
Division Two leaders Bankfoot lost by just two runs at Bradford & Bingley, despite former Cleckheaton all-rounder Marcus Walmsley (103) scoring his second century of the weekend.
Hartshead Moor reached the semi-finals of the Priestley Shield for the first time in around two decades after they defeated Morley by 30 runs
Although Trent Otto (23) top scored, Hartshead's chances did not look good as they were dismissed for 116 after Liam Fynn claimed 3-16, while Matthew Dowse, Eddie Ream and Richard Winn picked up two wickets apiece.
Hartshead produced a superb bowling display to dismiss Morley for just 86 as Louis Brooke (3-13), Jotham Barnett (3-17), Andy Halford (2-13) and Liam Evans (2-15) did the damage.
Hanging Heaton defeated Windhill by 96 runs. Heaton made 328-4 against Windhill with Michael Royce making a superb 128. Howard Ellis (70), Michael Smith (56) and Chris Goodair (51) all chipped in with runs.
East Bierley are chasing a record breaking fourth successive Shield triumph and they progressed to the last four with an impressive victory over Pudsey Congs.
Captain Matthew Anderson claimed 3-17 and opener Chris Brook 3-22 from their 10 overs, while Jack Ormondroyd (2-10) supported as Congs were bowled out for just 79.
It took Bierley only 16.5 overs to complete their eight-wicket victory as Leigh Abbott made an unbeaten 47 to ease them home.
Division One leaders Pudsey St Lawrence defeated Lightcliffe by 85 runs to keep alive their hopes of the double.
Bierley were paired with St Lawrence in the semis but they have to relinquish home advantage as their first team were also draw at South View Road.
