HARTSHEAD Moor have given themselves a chance to break out of the bottom two in Bradford League Division Two with a hard earned but deserved five wicket win over Great Horton.
Victory was based on an excellent bowling spell by Martin Ellis which yielded 6-32 in 10.4 overs and reduced Great Horton to 167 all out with 1.2 overs to spare.
Ellis also removed one of Horton's most stubborn players in Suliman Kahn, who made 54.
Moor's batting has creaked this season but with a good chance ahead of them they pulled together and were rewarded for their efforts. Craig Field led the way with 40 while openers Graham Hilton 22 and Simon North 34 provided a firm foundation. Martin Ellis made it a match to remember by contributing 26 to help Moor to 170-5 in 50.2 overs.
Hartshead Moor Seconds tied at Great Horton as both sides made 203 all out.
Mohammed Akbar made 68 and Yasser Abbas 59 as Horton were bowled out with three ball remaining, Danny Barlow 4-26 was the best Moor bowler.
Phil Gooder led the way for Moor with 63, Danny Bentley 23 while Neil Dickinson and Matthew Harness each made 21. Jeff Wind was stumped going for the winning run off the last ball off Masood Rana, who conceded 11 runs in his single over and the scores remained tied.
