Cleckheaton athlete Sally Smith achieved ninth place in the Northern Cross Country Championships at Witton Park, Blackburn last Saturday.
One of the youngest among the 74 competitors in the Under-17 women's race, Sally, 15, completed the arduous 5K course in 21mins 49 secs.
Sally, who runs for Wakefield Harriers, was pleased with a top 10 finish and is now looking forward to representing Kirklees at the West Yorkshire Schools Championships next weekend.
