Shot put gold for Spen's Chelsea

SEVERAL Spenborough athletes competed in the North of England Championships last weekend.
A fantastic performance saw Under-17 Chelsea Mitchel win gold in the shot put with 10.34m.
Steven Eastwood was eighth in the 1,500m while fellow Under-17 Simon Bolland had a cracking run to be seventh in a personal best of 2mins 09.72secs.
Under-17 Scott Atkinson got to the 400m final with a time of 51.44 while Under-15s Liam Steadman and Paul Davis finished 11th and 12th respectivly.
Under-17 Jess Ellis ran 100 metres in 12.9secs but didn't make the final however she did for the 200m in 26.66. Younger sister Beth was seventh in the final with Under-15 Emma Wilkinson and Katie Bryne finishing 17th in their events.
