ATHLETES from all areas of West Yorkshire gathered at Thornes Park, Wakefield for the annual West Yorkshire Schools Athletics Association Championships, this included a number from Spenborough & District AC who were representing their District Schools Association.
Outstanding performances were achieved by a number of athletes who broke their own personal best times and distances.
Ciara Flannery, the under-15 girl sprinter, went on to set her 2nd championship best performance by breaking the time she set last
year in the 200m sprint from 25.5s to 25.3s.
All the athletes who achieved, or were near to the qualifying entry standard will have to wait until after Monday, June 22 when the WYSAA committee next meet to select the team that will represent West Yorkshire in the English Schools Finals at Sheffield on July 10 and 11.
