Andy Whitworth of Meltham won Wednesday evening's Greenway 10K.
Whitworth was content to sit in with the leading pack up to the halfway turn at Low Moor. He then hit the front and led to the finish near Princess Mary Athletics Stadium.
Emer Dudley of Dewsbury Road Runners moved significantly ahead in the ladies' race at the two kilometre mark. Carole Fryer of Halifax Harriers made a determined bid to narrow the gap, which was down to eight seconds at the finish. Faye Wilkinson of Spenborough AC took third in the ladies' race.
The event was staged by Heckmondwike Grammar School PTA, in association with Spenborough and District Athletic Club.
Full results will be published in next week's edition.
