TEACHERS are finding it hard to get kids indoors thanks to a new outdoor play area at Norristhorpe J&I School.
A climbing frame, play area and toys have been provided at the school courtesy of the Parents and Friends Association and the government initiative, Sure Start.

Foundation stage early years co-ordinator Julia Lockwood said the new facility was much needed.

"We've been desperate for this for a long, long time and the PFA said they'd help us to sort it out. One of the parents contacted Sure Start and they came out and looked at our facilities and agreed we were in need of help," she said.

"We have a wonderful new climbing frame and other bits and pieces such as prams and bikes."

The design for the new outdoor play area was discussed by the teachers who presented their ideas to the PFA.

Mrs Lockwood said: "The children think it's brilliant. They have a wonderful time playing on the different things. It's made a big difference to outdoor play and we've extended their outdoor time and they all love going out there and experiencing it."
