THREE daring church-goers are preparing to abseil down a building in Leeds this weekend.
Victoria Wright, Angela Horsfall and Lorraine Shorten, all members of the Gomersal Moravian Church, will descend from the top of the Leeds Metropolitan University, Carnegie C Building, in Calverley Road to raise money for church repairs and Breast Cancer.

Angela Horsfall, who has helped to organise the event, said they were a bit apprehensive.

"It's a bit scary because we've never done anything like this before, but we get 30 minutes of training before we actually go down so I'm sure we'll be okay," said Angela.

"We were going to do a tandem sky-dive but we decided to go for the safer option!

"We want to raise as much money as we can for our two causes. The church desperately needs vital work doing to it, including roof repairs, a new heating system and new toilets as well changing it so it can be used as a muli-purpose building for the community.

"We chose to raise money for breast cancer because a lady at the church was cured of the disease and we know another lady who has been diagnosed with it, so we'll share the money between the two."

The women will take the plunge on Sunday at 2pm.
