THE formal gardens at Oakwell Hall Country Park in Birstall will provide half-term fun for children.
They will have to find the clues to the Oak Apple Quiz in the gardens behind the hall.

Families can take part for free from Saturday May 24 to Sunday June 1, during the museum's opening times of 11am-5pm Monday to Friday and noon-5pm Saturday and Sunday.

Quiz sheets are available from the visitor centre in the country park.

The quiz is inspired by Oak Apple Day, a pubic holiday in England on May 29 to mark the restoration of King Charles II to the throne on that day in 1660. When Charles lost to Cromwell at the Battle of Worcester in 1651, he escaped his Roundhead pursuers by hiding in an oak tree.
