Road works fiasco
HAdrian’s wall; rebuilding Japan after the Tsunami – no, Transco’s upgrading of the gas main in High Street, Heckmondwike.
In this current economic climate isn’t it wonderful to see Transco ‘elite engineers’ slowly, inch by inch, crawl up High Street, destroying the main route through Heckmondwike, causing no end of a nightmare to local business owners and commuters alike.
Now I know we need to be safe with gas, but 100 metres every four weeks? How many businesses can cope with this prolonged gridlock?
Obviously this strategy comes from high office but here is an idea. Why not start work at 7am and finish work at 7pm; work Saturdays as I, and most people trying to keep a business going, do.
When I use the phrase ‘work’ why not do what you are employed to do and lay some of the gas main you are holding the whole of Heckmondwike up for. Then maybe you might stop Heckmondwike and surrounding businesses from closing for good.
