What now for Tesco?

I NOTICE from some old records that I first wrote about the Tesco development in September 1999.

It is now obvious, by lack of action or even progress reports, that Tesco have abandoned any improvement in their Cleckheaton service.

The state of the area surrounding the present store, which was understood to have been acquired by them for development, has been allowed to become an absolute disgrace.

Is it not now time for Kirklees Council to follow the same course of action that they took in Dewsbury and compulsory purchase the unused sites and buildings and instigate the search for new developers to bring that part of the town back to life?
