Former student to perform in monastery

A PRIEST is returning to the monastery where he trained for an organ recital.

Father Simon Lumby was a student at the Community Of The Resurrection in Mirfield.

On Friday October 5 he will be playing the new Harrison organ in the monastery’s church in Stocks Bank Road.

Fr Lumby worked as a professional musician before he was ordained as a priest.

He is now serving as a parish priest in Leicester but does concerts to raise money for the church.

Proceeds from the concert in Mirfield will go towards the Community Of The Resurrection’s Centenary Church Appeal, to help pay for the monastery’s recent refurbishment.

The show will start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £7.50. Email ahannah@mirfield.org.uk or call 01924 483308.
