Two of the literary world’s most famous books will be brought to life at Red House Museum and Oakwell Hall Country Park this summer.

Historic Red House in Gomersal will hold an outdoor production of one of the most famous period novels by Jane Austen.

Pride and Prejudice will be performed at Red House on July 3 by the Chapterhouse Theatre Company who invite the audience to meet Elizabeth Bennett and her sisters.

While her mother tries determinedly to pair her off with the detestable Mr Collins, Elizabeth meets the rude and abrupt Mr Darcy. Is there more to him than meets the eye?

Guests are invited to bring along a picnic to accompany this most renowned of love stories.

The following month, on August 21, there is another outdoor production by Chapterhouse, this time at Oakwell Hall, which will be the setting of Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles.

On the lonely wasteland of the desolate Devon moors, something evil is afoot.

When death stalks the Baskerville family, legend and superstition collide with the most heinous of crimes. On the moor nobody is safe, not even the bravest of men.

Members of the audience are invited to join Chapterhouse to meet the world’s most famous of detectives, Sherlock Holmes, as he is called upon to solve his greatest mystery ... that of the Hound of the Baskervilles.

Again, guests can bring a picnic – as well as their best detective skills – for an evening of theatre, mystery and suspense.
