Stocks make welcome return
TWO years since they disappeared and Hartshead's medieval stocks are finally back where they belong.
A specialist stonemason reinstated the grade two listed feature at the site from which they were stolen in Church Lane, on Friday.
And much to the delight of Jennifer Alderson, secretary of the Spen Valley Civic Society, which has been campaigning to get the stocks put back for the last two years.
She said: "I am so glad they are back. It's great to see them in their rightful place and the workmen have made a really good job of it. We're all delighted!"
