THE man accused of kidnapping nine-year-old Shannon Matthews has appeared at Leeds Crown Court.
Michael Donovan, 39, of Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr, is charged with the kidnap and false imprisonment of the Dewsbury Moor schoolgirl.

Appearing via videolink from Armley prison Donovan spoke only to confirm his name.

He did not enter an application for bail and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Leeds Crown Court on July 11 when he will enter a plea.

A three-week trial has been scheduled for November 11.
