Christmas illuminations in Spen

GET into the festive mood by watching your town's Christmas lights being switched on.
On Saturday, Radio Leeds presenter Graham Liver will flick the switch to light up Cleckheaton. Santa's grotto in Central Arcade will be open from 1.30pm and there will be a parade through the town at 3.30pm with the switch-on at 4pm. Music will be pr
ovided by local schoolchildren and dance schools.

Next Friday (November 27) will see the village of Roberttown light up for Christmas. The lights go on at 3.30pm while visitors can enjoy mince pies and drinks followed by an evening of Victorian style hospitality from 6pm-8pm when the shops open their doors late to raise money for the village church.

On November 28 Dewsbury will be illuminated by Big Brother contestant David Ramsden, helped by Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist Gareth Oliver and the Pulse radio roadshow. The fun starts around 4pm, with the switch being flicked at 5pm.

On Sunday November 29 Mirfield Christmas lights will be switched on by a mystery celebrity.

The fun starts at 2pm with a fairground in the car park behind Mirfield Library, Huddersfield Road, and Santa will be dropping in to give out a few early Christmas presents.

The new LED energy saving lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.
On the same day Birkenshaw will be celebrating between 2pm-4.30pm. Santa will be in attendance and there will be stalls, prize draws, mince pies, hot dogs and more in the Scout HQ.

On December 1 Birstall lights will be switched on by PC Teresa Milburn. There will be a fair with dance schools displays from 4pm, with the lights being turned on at 7pm.

December 2 sees Heckmondwike lights being illuminated by BBC weather presenter Keeley Donovan. There will be entertainment from 5.30pm with the switch on in Market Place at 6.45pm.

Finally Batley will light up for Christmas on December 3, with Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter flicking the switch. Entertainment will be provided during the afternoon with the lights going on in the evening in Market Place.
