A CRIMEWATCH reconstruction of a 'vicious' crime which happened in Cleckheaton has given police "various lines of inquiry".
The reconstruction which was aired last Thursday, showed the events of November 12 last year, when a security guard delivering cash cassettes to Tesco's ATM machine in the car park was stabbed.

The 32-year-old man, who police say can no longer be named for security reasons - was wounded several times despite handing over a large amount of cash.

One of the masked men grabbed the cash cassette and ran to the getaway car - a black seat Leon, which had the false number plates YG06 NFK.
The second masked man threatened the security guard and demanded that he opened the door of the hut in order to get the rest of the money.

The security guard refused and was stabbed twice in the back.

The robbers dumped the black seat Leon less than a mile away in Birkett Street and then used this to escape to another getaway car on Prospect Street.

Det Insp Lisa Atkinson, who is leading the investigation, said: "We got a good response from the show appeal. In total we got 23 leads which we are in the process of following up and the complainant has been fully updated. At the moment we are researching the information which has come from various sources including the local police and Crimestoppers."

At the time of the incident, Det Insp Atkinson said the nature of the attack was disturbing.

She said: "A totally unwarranted level of violence was used by these men and it is important that we trace them as soon as possible.
"The fact that the guard was stabbed when the offenders had already got the money is particularly disturbing.

"We have had some very positive lines of enquiry and received some good information. However, we need further assistance from the public to bring these people to justice.

"These are clearly dangerous people who are prepared to use extreme violence unnecessarily and they need to be caught."

Police would still like to appeal for anyone who may have seen the incident to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
