FIREFIGHTERS were called to a kitchen blaze at a house in Scholes.
Officers from the Cleckheaton fire station were mobilised to the scene at Foldings Parade at 6.36pm on bank holiday Monday.

A fire spokesman said the householder had put a tea towel over the top of her hot cooker, which had caught fire, causing a lot of smoke. The occupant suffered smoke inhalation and was administered oxygen therapy by the fire crew.

He added: "The public should be aware not to put towels or tea towels over hot appliances as they will catch fire. This causes a lot of nasty smoke which can be extremely dangerous if you breath it in."
