POLICE are appealing for witnesses after thugs tried to steal lead flashing from a porch roof in Oakenshaw.
The incident happened between 10pm on May 1 and 8.30am on May 2, when would-be thieves attempted to steal the lead from a house in Bradford Road, but left empty handed.

Pcso Gareth Price said: "Stealing lead and other metals is rife at the moment due their market value. The public should be on the look out for anything which they think is suspicious and report it to the police or to Crimestoppers."
