PROPOSALS for a new school in Howden Clough, to serve pupils from Birkenshaw and East Bierley have received a mixed reaction from parents.
Hundreds attended a meeting at Batley Girls High School last week to hear from bidders wishing to transform the secondary school after its closure in 2013 as part of Building Schools for the Future.
Bids have been made for the school from Dixons City Academy and the Edutrust Academies Charitable Trust (EACT) which would both specialise in humanities and ICT and the Diocese of Wakefield, whose speciality would be languages.
Locals have until February 19 to have their say on each proposal, and the final decision is expected to be made by the Kirklees cabinet by the end of March.
The proposals can be read in full at www.kirklees.gov.uk/bsf.
