Police probe soccer brawl
A FOOTBALL match was abandoned after a fight broke out on the pitch.
Police were called to the match on the playing fields behind Spenborough Baths at 11.12am on Sunday after receiving reports of a serious assault that occurred at the football match between two local teams.
It is thought the teams were Spen Valley and St Ignatius, from Wakefield.
Two men, a 37-year-old and a 28-year-old, were allegedly assaulted by members of the opposing team as a result of an incident on the pitch.
Both men were taken to hospital with serious facial injuries, and are now in a stable condition.
Two men, a 27-year-old and a 25-year-old were arrested and bailed pending further inquires.
