AHEAD of big changes to Spen’s schools this summer, youngsters at Heaton Avenue Primary School have designed their new uniforms.

The creative kids were asked to come up with ideas for a new logo to reflect the school’s transformation into an all-through primary from September.

The results feature rainbows and arrows, smiles and sunbeams, which have been incorporated into the final design.

The logo will appear on school jumpers, book bags and PE bags.

They have also chosen a distinctive navy blue, purple and lime green colour scheme to be used on their uniforms and throughout the school.

Bursar Kirstie Humphreys said the children’s input had been key to making sure their views were represented.

The designs have been a big hit with the pupils.

Year five pupil Amelia Jolliff said: “This is just us. We are like no one else - we are new, exciting and not old fashioned.”
