MORE than 100 classic cars went on display at Ponderosa.
Heckmondwike Rotary Club held its annual classic car rally on Sunday, when 80 motorists did a 40 mile countryside run in their vehicles before returning to Ponderosa, Smithies Lane, Heckmondwike, where more cars were on show.
Organiser Barry Horncastle said the vehicles included an American mustang, a 1973 Citroen SM, two Rolls-Royces and an Aston Martin DB9.
He said: “There was also a Bristol there which won first prize. The Citroen SM was a very early one and it was magnificent.
“We had over 100 cars at Ponderosa and about 80 of them went on the run. We did a 40 miles run to a park in Wakefield and round that area, around the countryside. Everyone said it was fantastic.
“Ponderosa was unbelievable and everything went down well.”
Mr Horncastle said it was the first year the Rotary Club had used Ponderosa for the rally which raises money for Rotary charities.
He said next year’s event was already being planned to take place at Ponderosa – and he wanted to make it twice as big.
Proceeds were still being counted, he added.
