Three Dewsbury air cadets have become national champions in a shooting competition for the second year running.
The trio from No 96 (Dewsbury) Squadron once again beat competition from the rest of the Air Training Corps, increasing their average score in the process.
The team comprised Cadet Flt Sgt Sergeant Callum Evans, 18, from Chickenley; Cadet Flt Sgt Pranay Ballijepalli, 18, from Dewsbury, and Cadet Sgt Ben Wilbert, 17, from Ossett.
Squadron Commander Flt Lt Alan Curtis said: “It was a superb effort from the team, especially as two of them were working towards their A Level grades for university places.”
The Postal Competition comprised five rounds over eight months and each round requires the firer to compete in the prone, standing and kneeling position.
“That makes it a challenge for all the competitors and to achieve such a high standard is testament to the youngsters that Dewsbury Squadron attracts,” Mr Curtis added.
Team gold medals were awarded to the three man team and Callum Evans was also awarded highest male score.
