CHILDREN in Birkenshaw got creative when they were visited by a children’s author for the day.
Conrad Burdekin, author of The Hungrumptious Blumpfh and Teachers Pick Their Noses, paid a visit to Birkenshaw Primary School to have a talk with children about writing, as well as running a workshop to help encourage children to make original writing pieces of their own based on animals.
Conrad said: “The children were really receptive to my workshops and came up with fab ideas. They were a pleasure to work with, enthusiastic, and full of great ideas.
“My favourite story was Alan the Blackbird, who loved nothing more than watching TV. Unfortunately, he threw his remote at the TV when the Swallows scored against the Blackbirds in the cup quarter final and his TV blew up!
“I also found the staff to be extremely involved, and wonderfully inclusive.”
