Armed robbers threatened staff at a shop in Hightown before stealing the takings.

The masked men went into Hightown Off Licence in Halifax Road at around 10.30pm on Monday night as staff were getting ready to close up.

The pair threatened the two people working in the shop with a knife and crow bar, and hit a male employee in the face.

They took money from the till and left on foot.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the robbery.

Both men were described as being around 5ft 7ins tall and skinny, and one was white.

They wore gloves, dark clothing and hooded tops with the hoods pulled up.

They covered their faces with scarves and spoke in English accents.
