A MAN has been arrested for suspected drink driving after his car crashed through a garage door in Hightown on Tuesday evening.

The 37-year-old was arrested at the scene, in Halifax Road, when his black Vauxhall Corsa smashed through the electric garage doors.

Joanne Legood, whose garage door the car crashed into, said: “We just heard a crash and I thought ‘that sounds like our gate coming in’. I came out and saw this car in our door.

“Halifax Road is a problem. There are cars parked all along the road and the cars do go quite fast. A lot of people find their wing mirrors have been broken on a morning.”

Police officers closed part of Halifax Road while the vehicle was removed from the scene an hour later. No-one was injured.
