TWO glamourous Spen Valley girls are vying for the chance be crowned beauty queens.
Shanika Reid, 21, of Hunsworth, has been picked as the face of the Bradford district in the Miss Galaxy beauty contest. The Huddersfield University law student will now go through to the final next month.
Since winning the Bradford heat, Shanika has been busy with charity work for the PDSA and Cancer Research, combined with her studies and is now looking forward to the finals and picking the perfect dress to impress the judges.”
The final takes place on March 4, which is her mum Angela’s birthday.
Meanwhile, 15-year-old Anastasia Legge, from Cleckheaton, also has her eyes on the top prize after getting to the semi-final of the Miss Teen Great Britain contest.
The Whitcliffe Mount year 10 pupil signed up for the contest while on a trip to the Clothes Show, in Birmingham, with her school.
Anastasia now faces an anxious wait to find out if she has made the final in Blackpool in September.
Her mum Ashleigh Kirkwood said: “It’s fantastic that she was confident enough to put herself forward for this. She is usually quite a shy girl, but she is very excited about this.”
