BURST: Yorkshire Water has apologised to Scholes residents after a burst waterpipe flooded streets, including Westfield Lane.

A BURST water pipe caused streets in Scholes to flood.

Gallons of water flooded streets around the junction of Westfield Lane and Brookfields Avenue last Thursday morning.

It is not thought any homes were affected, but the impromptu puddle attracted a crowd of onlookers.

Reader John East, from Wyke, was able to photograph the flood waters.

Yorkshire Water engineers were quick to respond and the pipe was repaired, and flood water pumped out, by early afternoon.

A Yorkshire Water spokesman said: “Thanks to a quick thinking resident, we were quickly alerted to the burst and we were able to swiftly carry out the necessary repair whilst minimising any disruption to road users.

“We’d like to thank local residents for their patience.”
