CREATIVE COUPLE Matthew Kenyon and Emma Wilcox are funding their video gaming book via Kickstarter.

An entrepreneurial couple are relying on the generosity of strangers to kick start their book venture.

Matthew Kenyon and Emma Wilcock have until September 1 to raise enough money for their book on video game culture via crowd funding site Kickstarter.

The site allows people to pledge money towards creative projects looking for funding.

Supporting films, music albums, graphic novels and more, Kickstarter projects have a set time period to raise the money they need for the venture to become reality.

Matthew and Emma have so far raised £10,000 of their £26,000 target, which includes postage costs and site fees.

Their book – Every Day is Play. A Celebration of the Video Game – explores video game culture, showcasing the work of designers, musicians, artists, writers and developers.

Emma and Matthew, both former Kirklees College students, have been developing the project for a long time.

Emma said: “We feel really positive about it. It’s all or nothing really.

“Because the book is a collaborative project it fitted with the concept of Kickstarter.”
