Ambitious job-seekers could broaden their prospects at an adult careers fair tomorrow (Friday).

Expert advice will be on hand at the free Build Your Future in Spen Valley event, held at Cleckheaton’s town hall between 1pm and 3pm.

Visitors can meet employers who are wanting to fill vacancies to chat about the positions and what they look for in workers.

Tips on the best ways to write CVs and application forms will be available from organisations that help people with employment, training, apprenticeships, adult learning and volunteering.

There will also be people on hand to discuss money problems, advising on how to budget and get the best deals on energy prices.

Organisations include Connexions, Sure Start and Calderdale and Kirklees Careers Service.

Coun Simon Alvy, chairman of the Batley and Spen District Committee, said: “It is great that organisations are coming together to offer information and support at this event.

“If you know anyone looking for a little help with jobs, further learning, volunteering or money worries tell them about this event.”

Employers with current vacancies, or organisations wanting to get involved, should contact Susan Ginty on 01484 221000, at susan.ginty@kirklees.gov.uk or Christina@paddocktrust.org.uk.
