A PET cat was left with horrific injuries when two Staffordshire bull terriers savaged him while he was sleeping.

Jennifer Thomson’s two-year-old cat Dylan was asleep in a bush outside the family home in Union Road, Heckmondwike, when the two dogs, who were with their owner, but not on a lead, attacked him.

Jennifer said she had been out all day and was told by a neighbour Dylan had been attacked when she came home.

She took him to the vets where she was told he had suffered a ruptured stomach, punctured liver and kidney, broken rib and a broken jaw.

She said: “He didn’t look hurt and we thought he was just in shock but we took him to the vets for peace of mind and it was all internal. They said he was lucky to be alive.

“He is my daughter Poppy’s cat and she was devastated. We are all paranoid now and Poppy follows Dylan when he goes outside. He doesn’t go far now.

“I want people to realise Staffies are dangerous and they should be on a lead.”
