St Mary’s Theatre Group members have been rehearsing flat out since September to make sure their latest Christmas production is ready.
They have been working hard to present their traditional ‘ever popular’ fun-packed bumper bundle of a Christmas show at St Mary’s Hall, Batley.
This year the pantomime is A Christmas Carol, and despite ghosts and a miserable stingy main character, it is suitable for children of all ages.
Will the combined efforts of four ghosts, two fairies, other members of the cast, along with the audience, persuade mean old Ebenezer ‘Meanyboy’ Scrooge to mend his stingy ways and be kind and helpful to others?
If he won’t, through the magic of panto, will Santa Claus be able to come and help out and give all the children in the audience a present?
Chairman Stephen Walker said: “This year we have another fantastic great value show which has something to appeal to everyone.
“It has been written by one of our own members, Janet Walker, who has been working flat out to bring it all together.
“The supporting music ranges from traditional carols to the ever-popular Christmas Pop tunes.
“Yet again, we have some very young performers on stage many of them for the first time.
“They put their heart and soul into it and the audiences really appreciate them.
“The response to the pantomime in the local area has been really positive.
“Some performances will sell out very quickly so make sure to book your tickets early.”
Evening performances are at 7.30pm on Friday 9 December and Saturday 10 December.
Matinee performances are at 2.30pm on Saturday 10 December and 1.30pm on Sunday 11 December.
Tickets at £5 are now available by contacting 01924 478394, St Mary’s Social Club and directly from Batley Resource Centre (opposite the Town Hall), Commercial Street, Batley.
