Traders in Cleckheaton hope tomorrow’s Christmas lights switch-on will be the biggest ever as the town hosts a 12-hour festive spectacular.
The celebrations will start at 9am, with businesses hosting 36 stalls along Albion Street and Cheapside selling goodies and Christmas gifts.
The funfair in the market square will begin at noon, with rides, refreshments and face painting, and clowns and balloon artists will be entertaining shoppers around the town, as well as a Santa’s grotto in the Market Arcade. The parade begins at 5.45pm from Northgate, travelling down towards Bradford Road, before Santa officially switches the lights on at 6pm.
Music and entertainment will then continue in the Savoy Square until 9pm.
Chairman of the Spenborough Chamber of Trade Viv Laycock said: “We want this to be even bigger than last year. ”
This year the lights extend further than ever before, and will go beyond the Aakash in Bradford Road.
