A CHURCH has celebrated 180 years of worship.
St John’s Church in Cleckheaton marked its anniversary with a Songs of Praise service in Cleckheaton town hall.
Margaret Couch, from the church, said: “The act of worship was attended by many; those who attended the church in their childhood; people who helped form the only church cricket club; those who were married and later their children were baptised there. It was a joyful day.”
Members of other churches attended along with the Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt Rev Stephen Platten.
Visitors enjoyed a cake and display of memorabilia.
