A CHURCH has been filled with Christmas trees decorated on a nursery rhyme theme.
St James’ Church, Heckmondwike, is hosting its fourth annual Christmas tree festival this week.
Opening on Wednesday, the festival features trees decorated by schoolchildren, community groups and families.
Cawley Lane school chose Humpty Dumpty; the Mothers’ Union chose Oranges and Lemons; Tuesday Welcome Club chose Jack and Jill and Sunday School chose Twinkle Twinkle.
The Rev Ian Bullock said: “It is amazing that people have put in so much time and effort and make sure their tree looks like the theme. Some of the schools that have taken part have made their own decorations.
“We are leaving the trees up throughout Christmas.”
The festival runs until Sunday from 10am-6pm. The Church Street church invites visitors for bacon sandwiches tomorrow from 10am-11.30am and on Sunday there is afternoon trea at 4pm following by a carol singalong and puppet shoe at 6pm.
