St Mary’s Church in Woodkirk took a trip back hundreds of years at the weekend for its Medieval event.
The Dewsbury Road church held lots of fun events on Saturday as part of the Yorkshire Medieval Festival.
Visitors from across Batley, Dewsbury and Morley were able to watch performances of the Medieval Mystery Plays, performed by St Andrew’s drama group - the first performance for over 500 years.
People also read about the Black Canons and their life at Woodkirk and watched the Longbow Archer.
Children from local primary schools displayed their art work and resident historians explain the Medieval world.
And if that wasn’t enough, there was lots of laughter as people were put in the stocks ready to be pelted with wet sponges. There was also the chance to sample Medieval food and drink, such as pottage, spelt bread and cheese with barley wine.
