BELLY dancing and boxing are just two of the activities on offer during a healthy lifestyles fund raiser for the Scholes Village Shelter on April 1.

Collen Callaghan, who runs a slimming club, is organising the event to help people get fit and active, while raising money for the village shelter.

Among the activities are tai-chi, pilates, Zumba, boot camp and boxing taster sessions run by trained professionals.

Colleen has also enlisted the help of a Leeds-based belly dancer, Beverley Smith.

She said: “I’ve moved my slimming class from the church to the Shelter and it needs so much money to bring it up to scratch, so I decided to do something that will be a fun way for the community to raise money.

“Also, my members want to get into exercise and this gives them a taste of what they can do. They can just have a go at the activities and if they like it, they can join classes in the local area.”

Colleen hopes the money raised can help furnish the building.

The Rising Sun is also providing healthy food during the day.

The Ready, Steady, Go event is at the Shelter in Foldings Road, from 10am-5pm. Contact 07921 999836 for information.
