TWO families are distraught after their pets were snatched over the weekend.
Honey, a seven-month-old husky/collie cross, disappeared from the garden of her home in Shirley Terrace, Gomersal, on Sunday afternoon, while Splodge, a three-month-old rabbit, was taken from her hutch in Hunsworth Lane the same night.
Now their owners are appealing for information to have their pets returned.
Camille Hughes said she, husband Daniel, and three daughters, Hayleigh, Sophie-Rose and Freya, were devastated.
“I put Honey in the garden at 4pm. When I checked her half an hour later she had gone, and there’s no way she could have escaped as there’s a 6ft fence,” she said.
“I couldn’t believe it, We were out looking for her til 11.30pm but no-one had seen her. Hayleigh in particular is in bits, she’s even spent her lunchtime at school doing posters to put up appealing for information. We desperately want her back.”
Mark Ellis also wants information about the theft of his son Jacob’s rabbit.
“He went to the hutch on Monday morning to feed him, took off the cover, but Splodge had gone, through the two guinea pigs were still there,” he said.
“Jacob got her for Christmas, and she’s a lovely little rabbit, really small and white with black splodges. He’s absolutely mortified that someone could do this.”
Anyone with information about the thefts can contact police on 101.
