SLIMMER Daniel Farrer has lots of reasons to celebrate after losing more than four stones in just four months.
The 20-year-old sales adviser has done so well at shedding the pounds he has been named Heckmondwike’s Young Slimmer of the Year. And his success has also seen him reach the national finals of the Slimming World challenge this Sunday – with a chance of a £2,000 prize.
The contest applauds 15 to 21-year-olds who have made positive lifestyle changes through healthier eating habits.
Life was very different for Daniel only a few months ago. He was unhappy with his size, his confidence was on the floor and he felt like the odd one out with friends. He stopped going out and flopped at sports.
Now, he plays football, goes running and karting. Not long since, he couldn’t even fit into a kart - now he races to compete.
Daniel joined the local Slimming World club, held weekly at Heckmondwike’s Comrades Club, in January.
“I was so nervous the first time I went,” he said. “I was embarrassed by how big I was and thought everyone would judge me for being so overweight so young. I couldn’t have been more wrong.”
Through the club’s eating plan, Daniel has been transformed – dropping from more than 20st to just over 16st. He can now wear trendy clothes, goes out and yet still enjoys ‘treats’ such as burgers.
Sue Culshaw, who runs the group, said: “We are all so proud of Dan, who is a great inspiration to all the members. He has learned healthy habits which will stay with him for life.”
