BIRKENSHAW First School’s entrance is as pretty as a picture – thanks to a new mosaic which has been created by the pupils.

The children took part in workshops at the beginning of the new school term, learning how to build pictures out of small pieces of glass or ceramics.

They then put their new-found skills to good use by creating a picture of the school which now takes pride of place by its entrance.

The brightly coloured work of art, which is in the school colours, depicts many aspects of school life, such as its environmental/conservation work, sports and classroom learning.
