pupils in Scholes are providing the building blocks for a new future.
For the first time, the village school has a year five as it begins the transition from a first school to a primary.
Headteacher Sam Marriott said the new beginning was also marked by a smart new uniform which the pupils were enjoying wearing.
“The uniform is one which parents and pupils voted for last year - a v-necked sweatshirt with our new logo, shirt and school tie,” she said.
The school is undergoing extensive building work so it can cater for extra pupils, including a new hall and an extension for classrooms.
“A lot of the building work was carried out over the summer holidays but thanks to building contractors Bermar and the school staff we were ready to open on time for the new term,” she added.
“We are very pleased with the results so far and can’t wait to have the new rooms at the end of September.”
