SHAMELESS thieves have stolen harvest boxes, two days before they were to be delivered to elderly people in Hightown.

The Friends and Family Association of Hightown School made the boxes with items given by parents, and they had been decorated by pupils in preparation for today’s harvest assembly after which they would be distributed in the local community. However yesterday morning they arrived at school to find the storage shed had been broken into on Wednesday night, and 18 of the filled boxes missing.

Chairwoman Vicky Turpin said they were devastated, but despite the set-back everyone had rallied round to re-make the boxes which will still be distributed today.
