A rising starlet is celebrating a double helping of awards after wowing judges at a music ceremony.
St Mary’s Theatre Group member Elisabeth Walker won two trophies for her singing at the Haydn Wood Music Festival last week.
The nine-year-old competed against twelve other girls in the solo vocal competition.
Her performance of Christopher Robin is Saying his Prayers won a distinction from the judging panel.
Elisabeth was awarded the trophy for the most promising vocalist – and the accolades didn’t stop there.
She was also named the joint Colne Valley Festival Trophy winner in the ceremony at Huddersfield Town Hall.
But Elisabeth is keeping her feet on the ground.
She is currently busy in rehearsals for St Mary’s Theatre Group’s production of Babes in the Wood at St Mary’s Hall next month along with her brother, Adam,
Elisabeth’s granddad, Steve Walker is chairman of the theatre group.
He said: “We’re really proud of what she has achieved. Elisabeth’s been singing and performing ever since she was able to speak.
“I am particularly proud that in this year’s show Elisabeth, Adam and their dad, Andrew, will all be performing.”
The St Mary’s Theatre Group’s pantomime runs from December 5-8.
