A motorbike family fun day raised more than £1,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

The event, organised by Race Tec motorcycle and performance recovery, took place in Heckmondwike on Sunday.

Daniel Peel, from Race Tec, said the event raised £1,101 for the charity for injured soldiers.

He said: “We had a really good day. Lots of people have told me they had a great day.

“Unfortunately there was another motorbike event at Catterick which meant we didn’t get as many bikes as we expected.” Visitors were expecting to see a stunt biker, but he could not perform as he brought the wrong bike.

And the Red Arrows were expected to perform a fly past, but this did not happen.

But despite this, visitors posted on Facebook to say they had enjoyed the day.

Linda Jolly said: “I had a great day. I know the Red Arrows didn’t turn up but as ex forces myself I didn’t care, it was about the cause to me.”

Daniel added: “All in all we are happy with how it went.”
