BIRKENSHAW children have been forging links with the community during a day of special events.
During the Links Day the pupils of the village middle school were visited by a mobile library, an ambulance, football and rugby coaches from Bradford Bulls, and even some animals.
Dr Esther Moriarty, head of personal and social education and life skills at the school said: “There was henna painting and representatives from Fairtrade, because we are trying to get Fairtrade status.
“Staff from Ponderosa came along with some small animals which the children absolutely loved, and we’re now involved with their project to create a gnome island at the farm. It was a packed day but very enjoyable.”
