There was a close shave in Cleckheaton during the bank holiday weekend.
The West Yorkshire 4x4 Volunteers held a summer fun day at the Moorlands Club in Bradford Road raising £1,009.72, which went towards the running of the organisation.
Fundraiser Kath Walker pledged to have her head shaved if punters raised the £200 target for the fun day. As the target was reached with flying colours, Kath’s friend Sarah Hargreaves did the honours with the razor!
The event was to raise funds so that the voluntary service could continue its work rescuing people from treacherous conditions that would be difficult to access with regular emergency services.
Event organiser Mandy Docherty, who also works at the Moorlands Club, said: “It was a fantastic day. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and it was great to see so many people having fun.”
Sarah Clarke, from the West Yorkshire 4x4 Volunteers who also helped organise the day, said: “It was great to see all our hard work coming together. Last winter we covered a lot of miles in the short time we had snow. This year, we want to be able to continue to grow as a group, and be able to continue to offer an effective service.”
