Birstall’s Wesley Playhouse acted as host to a Fun Day for the Cleckheaton Branch of Save the Children.
While the children enjoyed playing in the Ark, there were stalls for the parents to browse over, Christmas cards, books, home made jam and cakes to buy and refreshments from the cafe.
Over £500 was raised.
Margaret Walker from Save the Children said: “One gentleman, Paul Conway, who came was visiting the Playhouse for the first time, but remembered attending the chapel (formerly Howden Clough Methodist Church) as a boy in the 1960s. In one of the files he found a photo of himself acting as a pageboy to the Sunday School queen in 1963.
“Our thanks to Caroline Holt for allowing us to hold this event at the Playhouse.”
Future events for SCF will be a coffee morning at the home of Sue Metcalfe in Mirfield and in December there will be the annual concert at Tong Hall and carol singing at Morrisons in Heckmondwike.
