The head of a company has gone back to school to teach the business men and women of the future.
Lindsay Tarrant, head of finance at Wakefield-based Horizon Platforms, helped A-level students at Heckmondwike Grammar School take part in the school’s annual Challenge of Management conference.
Lindsay, the group’s financial director since 2011, said: “I thoroughly enjoy working in a business environment and encouraging people to reach their full potential.”
The aim of the three-day conference was to give Year 12 students an insight into what life is like in business.
The students were encouraged to develop team building and decision-making skills by taking part in a business game.
Lindsay added: “My own children have benefited from the excellent teaching and outlook at Heckmondwike Grammar School and I was delighted to be asked to help out by giving back to the students who are future business leaders”.
Conference co-ordinator Lynne Morton said: “I would like to praise the involvement of the advisers and companies who have freely given their time and experience to help Heckmondwike Grammar School students learn about management in a competitive world.”
